Starting a new fitness routine and joining a new community can be incredibly intimidating.
It was one of the things I first experienced when I stepped into my first functional fitness gym back in 2011.
The thoughts that were running through my head were:
“I don’t want to be the slowest.”
” I don’t want to be the most out of shape.”
“I don’t want to look like I don’t know what I am doing and not fit in.”
What I learned later on after doing, coaching, and owning a gym for many years now is that these are all-natural responses to starting something new.
Although these feelings are very natural, I didn’t want them to deter me from getting started on the right path. I was highly motivated to make sure that new members coming into my facility felt comfortable.
That is when we introduced our On-Ramp Program.
On-Ramp is the process of bringing a new member into our community. After our initial consultation with members, we pair you with one of our professional coaches to get your journey started.
During the first week of On-Ramp, you will experience four 1-on-1 personal training sessions where we do the following:
- Assess your current movement
- Teach you, proper lifting mechanics
- Give you personalized recommendations on scaling options for any bodyweight or skill-based movements
- Suggestions on additional movements that address asymmetries or injury-prone issues in your body
These 1-on-1 sessions are scheduled around your availability so that we can best accommodate your schedule.
We have a follow-up consultation with you after your four 1-on-1 sessions, which we typically get done in 7-10 days. We ask whether you feel comfortable moving into a group class setting or prefer to work 1-on-1 for a bit longer.
Again, the entire focus is to make sure you feel like you are getting enough attention and moving towards your health and wellness goals.
You would be surprised how many people initially thought they wanted group classes and end up sticking with personal training. It’s entirely up to you in terms of what helps you keep making progress.
Our Client Success Manager, Leila, will also be reaching out to you once a week to follow up on nutrition, progress, and how things are going in general.
If something isn’t working for you, we want to know about it.
Again, District H isn’t here to just “facilitate fitness.” We want to see you succeed, and that takes having a constant feedback loop with our clients on what is working in their lives and what isn’t.
After your first 90 days, we will schedule a follow-up consultation to review the progress you have been making and revisit your overall goals.
Maybe you feel compelled to learn a new skill and want to do a couple of focused 30-minute personal training sessions with Coach Robert on pull-ups.
Maybe you are ready to go “all in” on nutrition coaching and want to work 1-on-1 with Coach Miranda.
Maybe you found out that you will be traveling quite a bit over the next few weeks and prefer not to lose the momentum you have already built. Remote Coaching with Coach Leila may make a lot of sense.
Whatever your goal is, we want to always revisit with you and get you to where you want to go.
Tomorrow we will discuss our movement screen and why it is crucial for injury prevention, strength training personalization, and overall health.
