November Athlete of the Month: Meet Zac Helton

By Scarlet Rodriguez

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, interests/hobbies, etc).

I’m happily married to Lauren Helton and I’m originally from St. Louis MO. I currently work for Anheuser Busch at their Houston Brewery where I work on the packaging side… anything that comes in a bottle or keg is from one of my lines! I also am a part of taste panel at the brewery so I make sure everyone’s favorite beer is perfect before it hits the market. I played baseball and football in college and looooove snowboarding. I’ve been snowboarding on every continent except Africa (its possible) and Anartica (also possible). Otherwise I play golf and slow pitch softball.

When did you start working out District H?

I realized it was getting harder and harder to lace up my snowboarding boots because I wasn’t as flexible as I once was. I had only been lifting weights for years but was clearly losing flexibility. Also as I get older I am starting to prioritize maintaining my body for the long haul

What made you decide to start working out in general?

I’ve play sports my entire life so naturally.

How have your workouts made an impact on your life outside of the gym?

Endurance has improved and my focus at work has increased. I enjoy working out in the morning because it gets me rev’d up for the day. Plus there is no better way to start the day than a huge scoop of preworkout

What is your favorite & least favorite workout or movement?

Favorite – Row or box jumps. Tried rope for the first time and enjoyed it

Least favorite – anything on the rig… I’m too big for hanging from stuff

What is your favorite & least favorite lift?

 Favorite – Deadlift/Back squat

 Least favorite – Snatch

What are your fitness goals?

I want to be able to go hard as long as I live

What is your proudest gym moment/achievement?

 First RX workout!

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?

May you live all the days of your life

 -Jonathan Swift

Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you.

I once stepped in the octagon
