In Aug. of 2020 I had hit an unhealthy weight for my size and height, it was a real wake up call to change my life. I lost 30 lbs, and have kept it off by staying consistent in continuing to workout at least 3x a week.  I have also had a clean bill of health since that time and that’s really the real win.  How have your workouts made an impact on your life outside of the gym? Working out has changed my entire life. I feel healthier all round. I’m a better Mom...

By Scarlet Rodriguez Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, interests/hobbies, etc). Hey guys! I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to the states when I was 6 years old. Grew up in Miami, went to school at Texas A&M, and currently live here in Houston. I am a supply chain consultant and have really enjoyed being able to travel around the country to places I would’ve never guessed existed! You could say my favorite hobby is traveling… I love going to new cities/countries and exploring different cultures. I absolutely love going to the beach, so I make sure my travels almost always include at least one beach day. Given Houston’s rich restaurant scene, I have also developed a great liking for trying new restaurants in the city. I enjoy being outside and participating in any outside activity from swimming to hiking (when the weather is nice), but...

One of the main reasons we hear in the gym is the classic, “I don’t have time to workout”.  While we can understand and empathize with this theory, it isn’t the whole story.  So, why can’t I workout consistently?  Schedule: With many of us now able to work remotely, it’s become even easier to get wrapped up in tasks around the house or fighting the urge to answer just one more work email. Home has now become a place for work, exercise, cleaning, taking care of family, as well as relaxation. Im a 37 year old dad to two girls (Sloan – 5, Perri – 1.5) and two dogs (Gracie and Gus).  My wife Emily and I both work for Chevron and since covid, often work a couple feet from each other. We love traveling, all things food and drink, spending time outside (hiking, biking, snowboarding), entertaining, and playing with our girls. When did you start working out District H?  I moved back to Houston in 2015 and started at DH shortly thereafter. I had never done CrossFit or class based workouts before, but it was 3 blocks away and too convenient.  What made you decide to start working out in general?  I started lifting weights in highschool and worked out (weights, running) off and on since. About a year and a half ago I realized how working out impacted my mental health....

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, interests/hobbies, etc): I was born and raised on a crop farm in Michigan before moving to the southeast, to be with my now husband, after graduating from Michigan State University.  All of my family (parents, 2 sisters, and their families) reside in Michigan so I travel often to visit.  I have 2 nephews that I adore.  My husband lives in NC with our two dogs (Gumbo and Illy) and I live here in Houston for work (Clinical Research Lead for Baylor College of Medicine’s Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Research Team) with our newest pup Wally.  I am an avid runner and run 4 races a year (2 road marathons and 2 ultra trail races).  Outside of crossfit and running, my hobbies include hiking, cooking, and gardening.   When did you start working out District H? Initially started once a week in May 2021 and transitioned to...
