Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, interests/hobbies, etc).

Im a 37 year old dad to two girls (Sloan – 5, Perri – 1.5) and two dogs (Gracie and Gus).  My wife Emily and I both work for Chevron and since covid, often work a couple feet from each other. We love traveling, all things food and drink, spending time outside (hiking, biking, snowboarding), entertaining, and playing with our girls.

When did you start working out District H?

 I moved back to Houston in 2015 and started at DH shortly thereafter. I had never done CrossFit or class based workouts before, but it was 3 blocks away and too convenient. 

What made you decide to start working out in general?

 I started lifting weights in highschool and worked out (weights, running) off and on since. About a year and a half ago I realized how working out impacted my mental health. I’ve been going regularly since. 

How have your workouts made an impact on your life outside of the gym?

 I’m less stressed, more resiliant, and happier.  

What is your favorite & least favorite workout or movement?

Most favorite: good mix of lifting and cardio.

Least favorite: I struggle with all things gymnastics related, but have enjoyed the journey

What is your favorite & least favorite lift? 

 Most favorite: majority of barbell lifts (except thrusters)

 Least favorite: DB/KB thrusters

What are your fitness goals?

Remain consistent, keep learning, continually improve, have fun 

What is your proudest gym moment/achievement?

 Being able to squat, deadlift, and do overhead lifts without pain

I grew up in Wyoming and Montana and am a certified beer judge

What advice would you give to newbies?

The coaching staff knows a lot. Ask lots of questions and heed their advice. They’ve definitely helped me
