by Coach Tommy I still have the privilege of getting to do most of the initial consultations with potential members. I absolutely love it! While I may be removed from coaching on the floor these days, I still get jazzed up by speaking with people, getting to know them and their goals, and talking through a game plan for setting them up for success at District H. I recently had a conversation with a brand-new member about the “cost of services.” We were discussing our On-Ramp Program, which is $250. With On-Ramp, you received four 1-on-1 personal training sessions and unlimited classes for the remainder of your first month. Occasionally, the initial response from a potential new member is, “Woah, that is expensive.” I always like to remind them that there is no such thing as “price” in and of itself. The concept of “price” always has to be anchored...

by Coach Tommy COVID changed everything! I don’t mean to sound superfluous but owning a physical location gym during lockdown was incredibly stressful. Not only the financial side of it, but I had a community of people who were pretty much isolated inside their house and trying to get some fitness in. Now some of my members were able to handle “at-home” workouts just fine. Others told me that it was brutal. No accountability! No social interaction! No professional coaching! During our 60-Day shutdown, my team and I rolled out a remote coaching solution to address some shortfalls in our solution. What is remote coaching? Think of it as having a professional fitness coach in your back pocket. We build personalized fitness and nutrition programs for clients that: Can be adjusted based on your time constraintsCan accommodate the equipment you have availableCustom programming that addresses your specific strength and conditioning...

by Coach Tommy Let’s talk about the attention/value spectrum real quick. For any professional service, you will pay more if you are looking for advice from a professional in the industry. You will also pay more if you are receiving consistent, 100% attention from that professional. On one side of the spectrum, you have FREE access to information. For those “do it yourselfers” out there, the amount of information is unlimited. In fitness, you literally don’t have to spend a penny to get into fantastic shape. You could read up on exercise routines, go to a local public park, and get after it for zero cost. On the other end of the spectrum, you have 100% individualized advice and attention. In fitness, this means Personal trainingCustom nutrition prescriptionDaily check-ins from your coach100% attention to your fitness needs Whenever I speak to prospecting clients about personal training and goals, it is...

By Coach Tommy   Its’ Momentum Monday! Let’s start off the week strong.   This week is all about personalization with our fitness routine.   While the industry is moving towards “cookie-cutter” workouts that rely on distractions like “splat points” or “DJs,” District H is moving in the opposite direction where we personalize our prescriptions for people with excellent coaching.   Why?   At the end of the day, people want to feel like they receive the attention and care they deserve.   I always tell people we aren’t in the fitness business; we are in the relationship business. And good relationships in fitness are built on individualized attention and need.   So how do we create individualized attention with our fitness prescriptions?   Today, we are going to discuss our group class format.    How do we structure it? Who does it work best for?   Historically, CrossFit...

By Coach Tommy This week is all about personalization. Over the last six years, we have seen an exponential increase in fitness programs that focus heavily on: ·      High-Intensity Interval Training ·      “Experience-based” solutions ·      Technology While “novelty” is a critical element of developing motivation with your fitness routine (read more about that here), any “cookie-cutter” program will only work for so long. The dopamine rush from feeling exhausted and sweating will eventually fade. Orange Theory, F45, Sweat 1000, Barry’s Bootcamp, Ride, and even CrossFit all follow the same format in terms of circuit training. We are doing the same 15 movements within CrossFit and repackaging them into different formats to target different energy systems. To accommodate the mundane, we have to introduce things like: ·      Red Lights ·      DJs ·      Dancing And Whiteboards to keep clients motivated...
